Best London City Farms For Cute Animal Adventures

Keeping kids entertained whilst money is tight is not easy in London, with everything costing an arm and a leg it’s rare to find a fun day out that won’t break the bank.  Everyone loves a farm and we’re very lucky to have some lovely city farms with something for kids of all ages, from petting zoos to horse riding and everything in between.

Vauxhall City Farm

Entry price: free, but donations are welcomed (suggestion £3)

Hailed as a ‘little piece of countryside in the heart of the city’, Vauxhall City Farm is one of the oldest and most central farms in London and is charity funded, providing a haven for the local community. Priding itself on being a vehicle for education, this farm is so much more than just a fun place to look at animals, but the 2 alpacas are definitely the stars of the show!

Spitalfields City Farm

Entry price: free

With views of the city skyline, Spitalfields City Farm is a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the concrete jungle with its green spaces and blooming gardens. Relying heavily on volunteers, the farm provides a great opportunity to get involved with something really worthwhile and who wouldn’t want to snuggle a piglet?

Kentish Town City Farm

Entry price: free

One of the big pulls for visitors at Kentish Town City Farm is the horse and donkey rides, providing extensive educational programmes and therapeutic riding for people with special needs. The UK’s first city farm., Kentish Town is a community charity that helps people connect with animals, nature and the environment.

Mudchute Park and Farm

Entry price: free

One of the largest inner city farms, Mudchute is home to a wonderful collection of rare British breeds and is currently home to over 100 breeds of animals and fowl. The spectacular grounds make for a wonderful day out and of course there’s an on site cafe for when tummies start to rumble. The larger animals are free roaming and it’s a lovely sight to see them in a more natural habitat, whilst the more snuggly residents are kept in  ‘Pet’s Corner’ and are available for handling sessions.

Deen City Farm

Entry price: free

Not only is this cute urban farm home to the usual pigs, goats, cows, sheeps and chickens, there is also an animal boarding service so if you’re off on holiday you can rest in peace that your pets will be in the safest hands possible. Providing educational support to the local community, Deen City Farm is keen to teach youngsters more about the environment and where their food comes from. There is also a riding school and holiday schemes where you can see how a working farm operates and rooms for hire for parties and events.

Hounslow Urban Farm

Entry price: adults £6.50, kids £5

If sheep and cows don’t get you excited, maybe the scaly residents will. Home to snakes, lizards, dragons, and geckos, Hounslow Urban Farm is a little bit different than usual. With pig meet and greets, owl shows and the chance to handle most of the smaller animals, there’s no shortage of things to see and do and for the younger tots there’s an outside and indoor play area too, complete with bouncy castle.
