Awarded best ‘cheap eats’ in 2016 Yard Sale Pizza is where you come when you want just good, simple pizza in a casual setting. Their slow cooked tomato sauce is the stuff of dreams and with their impressive range of vegan options, including the infamous East Side Vegan ice cream sandwich, they’ve become very popular with the hip East London crowd. From humble beginnings in a back yard in Clapton (hence the name), three friends brought their dough dream to life and we’re so glad they did.
CRATE Brewery, Hackney
Pull up a seat on the River Lea and indulge in a stone-baked pizza washed down one of CRATE’s experimental brewhouse beers. Smack bang in the middle of the canal quarter with the throng of barge bars and hipster taprooms, CRATE has carved out its own identity with show stopping pizzas such as the Kashmiri Dahl which features fresh banana slices and mango chutney and is widely raved about. Birthed from a crowdfunding campaign, CRATE gives back pioneering a zero waste restaurant above and hosting tasting tours so you can learn more about your favourite beers.
